ON THE TRAIL OF VANISHING PROFESSIONS

IN POLAND AND HUNGARY

On the trail of vanishing professions in Poland and Hungary is the theme of mobility carried out by the Association on February 3-12, 2010 as part of the Youth in Action Program. The goal of the international youth exchange was to get to know the Polish and Hungarian cultural heritage, discover common areas of interest and realize how important it is to take care of the development and promotion of their countries. In addition active youth cooperating with the association and participating in the Youth In Action Program undertook activities related to rural areas, tradition, and vanishing professions.

Students from Poland and Hungary participated in language classes, thematic seminars, discussion panels, musical animations, and integration games, as well as trips to Zawoja, Zubrzyca, and Zakopane. Each day was planned to combine pleasant and useful activities. Apart from foreign language courses, lectures and debates devoted mainly to the history and cultural heritage of partner countries, entertainment and fun could not be lacking. Classes dominated the work in mixed groups, which allowed for easier communication and tightening of relations between participants. Workshops and seminars were conducted by lecturers from the University College of Tourism and Ecology and youth leaders who could test their leadership skills. Acquired knowledge and obtained information were used by exchange participants to perform specific tasks and projects. The result of joint work was, for example, creation of a website about Polish-Hungarian history and friendship, as well as containing elements prepared in advance, such as the exchange logo.
