Sucha Beskidzka, a city with over 600 years of history, is located at the foot of the Żywiec Beskids, in a picturesque valley, in the valleys of the Stryszawka and Skawa rivers. The convenient location at the intersection of the main communication routes: Wadowice - Kraków - Żywiec - Zakopane and the possibility of a trip to the surrounding ranges of the Beskids and the Tatras, as well as Slovakia - are factors that favor the development of various forms of tourism. Outstanding landscape values and one of the largest historical complexes in Lesser Poland with an aristocratic residence, the old legendary inn and a magnificent church and monastery complex are the greatest assets of the city. Sucha Beskidzka is the seat of the district and has about 10,000 inhabitants.

THE CASTLE

The Renaissance, magnate residence of the successive owners of the Suski estates: Castiglione-Suskich, Komorowskie, Wielopolski, Branicki, and Tarnowski is often called the “Little Wawel Castle” because of the similarity, especially of the courtyard and cloisters, to the Cracow royal castle. The castle, which was built in the sixteenth century, has a simple, three-wing structure with an open courtyard to the east. It is decorated with four towers, extended outwards. The southern and western wings are two-story, and the northern wing - one-story. Currently, the castle houses the University College of Tourism and Ecology, the City Museum, the Municipal Cultural Center and the hotel.

THE CASTLE PARK

In a park founded in the 19th century, typical for Poland trees prevail: ash trees, oaks, limes and hornbeams. Many of the species of plants brought to the park have not been adopted, except for clusters of maple, red oak, Eastern walnut and red beech. The center of the park is occupied by a large meadow and a small pond behind it. In the park there is a building of the former orangery, built during the time of Anna Wielopolska.

ROME” TAVERN

The wooden tavern standing on the market was built in the 18th century and owes its present state to a thorough renovation carried out in the 1960s. One of the rooms serves as a restaurant room and the other serves as a café. According to the legend, the "Rome" inn was the prototype of the one described by Adam Mickiewicz in the ballad "Pani Twardowska".
